THE PRIDE, GUJRAT HEADGEAR STYLE – THE HEADGEARS SERIES -9
India the land of diversities is so finely integrated that the borderlines within the regional states have faded on at least the fashion map of India. We never considered our father of the nation a Gujarati, and also never hesitated to wear an ‘Indian’ headgear, inspired by Gujarati traditions on any of our formal social occasions such as weddings, celebrations, and get-togethers.
While the traditional dress ‘Chorno’ is the common Gujarati costume that rural Gujarati men wear, leading fashion designers in India are taking inspiration from this dress to create contemporary forms to create new fashion style for men.
The short Kediyu or Angrakhu is worn as a top shirt along with the characteristic head gear or a turban. The Gujarati Headgear is tied by folding and layering the piece of colored cloth in a rounded pattern so as to form several creases, frills, folds and pleats giving an angular or rounded shape to the turban.
Latest mens fashion trends are dictating them to also include a small coat named Keviya and churidar pajamas in their ethnic dress attire. A waist band for men is also added to the whole outfit adding grace and elegance to the attire.
